LSUAC Gold Flat

President's Appeal, December 2023

Dear Fellow Alumni:

Geaux Tigers!

I am writing you on behalf of the Chicago Alumni Chapter of Louisiana State University (LSU) because we need your help. In other words, WE WANT YOU.

Our Chicago region hosts a vast alumni base, but we need to coalesce this base and harness our numbers to achieve the greater good. This means we need more area alums to join our local alumni association.

I know. Some might wonder why you should support the university beyond your graduation date. Based upon conversations our Chicago team has had with many of you, we all share a relentless passion for our fantastic alma mater. We value the total experience we had during our time on campus, and we benefit daily from the huge network it has provided once we left.

Our ongoing success is dependent on those who come next. It is in our best interest to pave a pathway for our LSU successors. Think about it: Our degrees are less valuable if those who follow us cannot also achieve success in life and in employment.

The LSU Alumni Association — the umbrella national organization, chapter associations around the United States, and specifically our Chicago Chapter association — have been designed to help perpetuate our networking capabilities. The LSU Alumni Association and its regional chapters are 501(3)(c) nonprofit, nonpolitical charitable organizations whose singular goal is to facilitate the success of graduates and current students. Members in our alumni associations can help identify prospective scholarship recipients, assist with job placements, and connect isolated alumni in even the most unique industries or life paths.

My hope is that you will read this and understand the immense value you can obtain by aligning yourself with the association. This does not necessarily mean a monetary donation. Your contribution can be made in a number of ways including:

  • Helping the LSU Chicago board organize a fundraiser or other event
  • Volunteering to speak at an LSU Admissions event
  • Spending your disposable income at establishments that support our broader goals

Please consider joining our local chapter. Membership is available at a nominal cost and offers many benefits (outlined here). NOTE: We aim to establish a base in Naperville and Schaumburg to serve our suburban alumni. We are currently looking for sites to host us in those areas.

We encourage you to attend the official game watches and support the association so that we can continue to pave the way for those who come next. Come on and join us every football Saturday at Frontier, at the Spring Crawfish Boil, and at our new Mardi Gras Fundraiser in 2024.

The Chicago LSU Alumni Board welcomes all feedback and we look forward to hearing from everyone! The board can be contacted via the website or social media (Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn).

Remember: Love Purple, Live Gold. Geaux Tigers!

Forever LSU,

Gabrielle Triplette, BS Finance ‘10
